Should teens and preteens be using so many skincare products with fancy ingredients?
There has been a recent trend amongst teens and tweens to be drawn to purchase high-end skin care products from beauty stores. The more natural the products the better! Parents can encourage their kids to stick with a simple skincare routine consisting of a gentle cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen. It is ok to spot treat acne by using the SOS Drops and the Blemish Control Mask.
Simple skincare routines are best:
• In the morning, preteens and teens should wash their faces with a gentle cleanser.
• Then, they should apply a noncomedogenic (which means it won’t clog pores) sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30.
• In the evening, they can use that same gentle cleanser and apply a light, oil-free moisturizer.
• Use the blemish control products as needed and mask 1-2 a week only
.
HERE IS MY TOP RECOMMENDATIONS FOR TEENS:
Having a good skincare habit is truly a blessing especially for teens. Here are some tips for you to have a good skincare habit:
1. Know your skin first: Have some basic knowledge of what type of skin you have because everyone's skin is different and you should know about your skin first, before applying anything to your face.
2. Don't eat too much junk food, deep fried food items: I know this can be a bit challenging for foodies who loves to eat junk food a lot. But eating too much oily food, junk food, deep fried food can make your skin worst. Well, I'm not saying to completely stop eating junk food, so just remember that your skin will reflect what you eat.
3. Start eating green vegetables: Not everyone likes leafy vegetables but to have a good skin , you should definitely add some to you diet. Vegetables & fruits helps in building good skin.
4. Regular water intake: You've probably heard this before. Obviously drinking water makes your skin glow naturally, but only drinking water can't guarantee you a perfect skin.
5. Use natural products: I love using Oliveda a lot and people who have sensitive skin can use it. Its waterless skincare without fillers and no balancing agents.
6. Be mindful about makeup products: Well, I'm not saying to stop applying makeup. Makeup is literally the best option for someone to boost and enhance their confidence. But knowing product ingredients makes a difference. Some makeup company use harmful ingredients which can irritate your skin and do not use expired makeup products too.
Preteens and teens should avoid products containing:
• Retinol.
• Vitamin C.
• Alpha- and beta- hydroxy acids.
• Peptides.
